Endemol Shine Group has picked up the remake rights to a French shiny-floor entertainment show recently added to Vivendi Entertainment’s distribution slate.
France’s Vivendi has struck deals with Endemol Shine in Italy, Spain and Portgual after picking up sales rights to The Secret Song from domestic prodco DMLSTV.
The Secret Song recently premiered in France on TF1, airing during primetime as La Chanson Secrète. The format sees celebrities seated in the middle of a stage on a special chair while watching other artists, friends or family surprise them with a new take on one of their own favourite songs.
Matthieu Porte, exec VP of international and development at Vivendi Entertainment, said the format had the “very rare potential” to “gather the whole family in front of their TV.”
Orsetta Balsamo, Head of Format Acquisitions and International at EndemolShine Italy, explains: ““The Secret Song” is the shiny floor, feel good entertainment show we were looking for given the great appetite for studio-based shows in Italy. After our adaptation of “Facing the Classroom”, we’re glad to partner up again with Vivendi Entertainment on another successful French format which we believe perfectly fits our main generalist, free-to-air broadcasters’ needs. “
