FACING THE CLASSROOM, the new and refreshing political / factual entertainment show that aired successfully in March in France on C8 in primetime, is now in development in 7 territories following its launch at MIPTV.
Warner Bros International Television Production in Germany, Sweden and Finland, Mentorn Media in the UK, Screentime NZ (Banijay) in New Zealand, Gil Productions in Israel and Iprod in Lebanon have all signed exclusive options for their respective territories. In some of these territories, local adaptations are already in pre-production. More deals should be announced soon.
Matthieu Porte, Vivendi Entertainment’s EVP International & Development, says:
“FACING THE CLASSROOM was MIPTV’s surprise hit. Everyone absolutely loved it. It’s a great example of smart format that makes a much more entertaining and intriguing viewing than any other programs related to politics. The massive ratings in France proved that. And as most countries in the world hold regular elections, the format is very relevant globally and can be adapted nearly everywhere.”
FACING THE CLASSROOM (locally titled PRÉSIDENTIELLE : CANDIDATS AU TABLEAU) was a huge success in France. Airing in primetime on C8, it averaged 1.3 million viewers and an outstanding 7.3% share among 25-49 (+170% vs the slot, +46% vs the channel’s average).
It is C8’s 3rd highest rated primetime show in 2017 (excluding TPMP). The performance among 15-34 was even more impressive with a 9.1% share (+214% vs the slot, +54% vs the channel’s average). In 24 hours, the show was watched 400 000 times on TV catch-up platforms.
FACING THE CLASSROOM was also adapted in Belgium for public broadcaster RTBF in 2016 as a 6 time one-hour weekly series.
